I wanted to change up my go-to recipe of cheesesteak style beef with peppers and onions, so I went with Asian inspired seasonings instead! It’s a great recipe that somewhat mimics Chinese pepper steak. A bit spicy, lots of umami flavor, and yummy enough to curb my craving for carb-loaded Chinese takeout.
You can serve this with cauliflower rice, lettuce wraps, or eat it as is like I did!
Shaved beef steak is a staple I keep in the freezer. It’s great for making so many low carb/keto dishes. It cooks up fast for a quick weekday meal!

Fish sauce may sound, well… fishy, but it adds an amazing deep umami flavor. It may smell a little funky, but you only need a dash or two!
Low Carb Shaved Steak with Peppers and Onions
An Asian inspired dish that fills the takeout craving!

- 1 pkg Beef Shaved Steak
- 1 small onion (sliced)
- 2 bell peppers (sliced)
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 3 Tbls soy sauce
- 1 Tbls ginger puree
- 2-3 dashes fish sauce
- 1 tsp Sriracha
- salt/pepper to taste
Instructions
With about 1 Tbls of olive oil in a large skillet on med-high heat, sautee the onion, peppers, and garlic.
When slightly softened, add in the shaved steak, separating the pieces as it cooks.
Add all seasonings and sauces, adjusting for taste. If you like spicy, add more sriracha.
When the steak is cooked through and the peppers and onions are soft, serve immediately with cauliflower rice, or as is.
